Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), has predicted fifth monsoon spell to hit Karachi from today till Monday.
According to Abdul Qayyum Bhutto – Director Meteorological Department, has said that the city is expected to receive its fifth rain spell from today till Monday.
Karachi is expected to receive 20-30 mm of rain today (Friday), meanwhile the monsoon spell is expected to affect other parts of Sindh including Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Sukkur, Larkana.
The rain fall in the metropolitan city is expected to exceed 40-50 mm mark and might reach 70-80 mm throughout the fifth monsoon spell till Monday, said PMD.
Meanwhile various areas of Punjab and Balochistan including Lahore, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar Rajanpur and Lasbella, Khuzdar, Barkhan, Moosa Khel and others are also likely to receive moderate rainfall.
Prior to this, the Met Department had predicted fourth rain spell in Karachi from August 14 to 16, which however had weakened down and the city only received little to no rainfall.
Karachi has witnessed four strong monsoon spells so far this year, resulting in 39 electrocution related deaths as the city’s electricity and drainage infrastructure was intensely overwhelmed due to torrential rains.
