Karachi: K-Electric, on Wednesday, announced its decision to resume its meter reading operations in selected localities of the city, from today – April 9.
The sole power utility company of the country’s largest city, on the directions of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), after detailed consultations with the regulatory body, on the issue of overbilling, has decided to defer payment of March bills by 30 days.
The company has decided to issue bills on actual meter readings as NEPRA highlighted the complaints regarding overbilling issues faced by the customers due to the company’s decision to issue electricity bills on average basis due to the coronavirus lockdown.’
Earlier, Due date for bills below Rs 4,000 had been extended along with the provision of option of deferred payment via instalments over three months to residential single phase customers with less than 300 units of consumption per month.
K-Electric has urged federal and provincial governments to clear and pay their respective receivables worth upto Rs 240 billion.
