K-Electric – Karachi’s sole electricity provider, has been lambasted by federal government over its failure to restore power supple to several parts of the city which have been left without electricity for more than two days now.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail held a telephonic conversation with Moonis Abdullah Alvi – Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K-Electric, and directed the latter to immediately restore electricity supply to the concerned areas in the city.
Imran Ismail noted that extensive prolonged power outages are adding to the woes of Karachiites who have been facing adverse circumstances due to severe urban flooding in the metropolis.
Furthermore, Omar Ayub Khan – Federal Minister for Energy, has also directed K-Electric to restore electricity throughout the city by Saturday night (tonight).
Responding to the growing public uproar over continuous and unexplained prolonged power outages in Karachi’s several areas, K-Electric has said that it has restored 91 per cent of the feeders that were affected by heavy rains.
“Our teams are working with city/district administration teams to simultaneously drain accumulated rain water and dry sensitive electrical equipment before powering the substations up,” read the statement issued by the company.
According to K-Electric electricity supple has been restored in Nister Road, Garden, parts of Landhi and Lyari, I I Chundrigarh, North nazimabad Arafat Town, PECHS Block 6, Korangi Industrial area, Gulistan-e-Johar Block 12, 15 ,16, University Road, North Karachi, Malir Millat Town, DHA Phase 1,8,2 and various other areas across the city.
