International Air Transport Association (IATA) will be conducting a safety audit of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) this week.
A team of IATA officials is scheduled for arrival in Pakistan on Saturday, September 5th to conduct safety audit of the national carrier.
The IATA team will visit Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan and Islamabad airports during from September 7th to September 12th as part of their safety audit of the PIA.
The development comes as various international aviation bodies have cited safety concerns over fake credentials scam plaguing PIA.
Prior to this European flight safety agency back in June had suspended PIA’s aviation permission for six months over dubious licenses issue.
In addition to it, PIA was barred from entering US airspace by United States authorities over fake license issue on July 10th.
The United States Department of Transportation had revoked PIA’s permit to conduct flight operations within US airspace citing security concerns over fake licenses scam.
Earlier on Tuesday, the national carrier sacked 27 of its employees found guilty of possessing fake/bogus credentials.
