Another police officer is reported to have died due to coronavirus in Karachi on Tuesday.
As per the details, the deceased belonged to the Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) branch of the Sindh Police, and contracted the novel virus on April 25 and was in self-isolation since then.
According to police officials, the deceased was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Tuesday morning (today) as his condition deteriorated.
Sindh government spokesperson, Murtaza Wahab has revealed that 45 police personnel have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus in Karachi along with four members of Sindh Rangers as well.
This is the second casualty of Sindh Police due to COVID-19 coronavirus.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, in a video message announced that 307 new coronavirus cases were registered in the province in the last 24 hours.
Sindh government has urged the people to abstain from going in public unless absolutely necessary and strictly abide by the safety measures and social distancing directives recommended by healthcare experts.
As of now, Sindh has the highest number of COVID-19 cases, with 8,189 confirmed coronavirus cases while 148 people have died due to the novel virus in the province.
