Bollywood actor and superstar Aamir Khan has been under fire from Indian media and citizens for meeting Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan.
The 55-year old actor is in Turkey for the filming of his movie ‘Laal Sindh Chaddha’ starring Kareena Kapoor to be released in December 2021.
During his stay in Turkey, the Dangal actor met with Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan, wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
However, Indian media and netizens have lambasted Aamir Khan for meeting the first lady of ‘pro-Pakistan’ country.
Indians have been severely critical of the meeting terming Aamir Khan as a ‘traitor’ for meeting Emine Erdogan.
The uproar comes as Turkey on multiple occasions, has sided with Pakistan over Kashmir issue raising human rights concerns regarding situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and condemning Indian atrocities in the disputed valley.
Labelling of Muslim actors and artists in India as ‘traitor’s in nothing new and has become a usual habit of Indian media and netizens, even more so after Narendra Modi led BJP government came to power.
Various other artists such as Naseeruddin Shah, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and others have faced ‘traitor’ allegations on multiple occasions.
