Islamabad High Court (IHC), on Tuesday, removed special assistant to prime minister (SAPM) Ali Nawaz Awan as chairman local government commission.
Hearing the petition filed by Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz against the appointment of Ali Nawaz Awan as chairman local government commission, IHC was informed by the petitioner that the appointment of Mr Ali Nawaz Awan has been in fact a violation of the code of conduct, as the regular procedure was not followed and the post was never advertised as per the rules and regulations.

It is to be noted that the court has reserved the verdict back on June 11.
The court has directed the removal of Ali Nawaz Awan from the position of Local Government Commission.
Ali Nawaz Awan was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from the Constituency NA-53 in 2018. Later he was inducted into the federal cabinet and was appointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on affairs of Capital Development Authority.
