Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Masood Khan while speaking at 47th Council of Foreign Minister (CFM) of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) highlighted Indian atrocities in the disputed valley.
During his address, President Masood Khan focused on five major aspects of illegal Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Masood Khan accentuated genocide, settler colonialism, state terrorism, Islamophobia and arbitrary detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders as part of India’s draconian policies enforced in the disputed valley.
In response, OIC adopted a strong, comprehensive and updated resolution on Jammu and Kashmir.
The resolution takes notice of the concerns expressed by Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights regarding the worsening human rights situation in IOJ&K.
Furthermore, the resolution condemns Indian attempts to malign the legitimate Kashmiri freedom struggle by denigrating it as terrorism.
It also reaffirmed that any political process held under foreign occupation cannot be a substitute to the exercise of the right to self-determination by people of Kashmir as guaranteed by the United Nations.
The forum reiterated its continued political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people till the provision of their legitimate right to self-determination.
It is pertinent to know that Pakistan had approached OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir to hold emergency virtual meeting of Foreign Ministers of other member nations including Azerbaijan, Niger, Saudi Arabia and Turkey along with OIC-Independent Permanent HR Commission (IPHRC) to discuss worsening situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
