Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has imposed a ban on PTI’s Ali Amin Gandapur from attending election-related events, and making speeches in AJK.
As per details, PTI’s Ali Amin Gandapur who is also Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, has been directed to leave AJK by AJK Election Commission.
AJK Election Commission has also prohibited Ali Amin Gandapur from making speeches and participating in election-related activities.
In a letter written to AJK’s chief secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, AJK Election Commission’s Secretary Sardar Mohammad Ghazanfar has directed the authorities to ensure the implementation of the decision and submission of a compliance report.
The development comes as the federal minister, during one of his speeches in AJK had termed former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto a “traitor” while speaking about the 1971 East Pakistan tragedy.
In the same speech, he used the word Daaku (robber) for Nawaz Sharif and his family members.
The remarks resulted in outcry from both PPP and PML-N. Later, Ali Amin Gandapur’s convoy was attacked by workers of PML-N who hurled eggs and stones triggering aerial firing from his guards.
The minister, who was accompanied by cabinet colleague Murad Saeed and PTI AJK leader Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, was travelling to Chinari to attend a public meeting under the aegis of party’s candidates when this incident occurred near Khun Bandway, some 17 kilometres from here along Jhelum Valley Road.
A video clip recorded by someone from amongst the activists standing on a sloppy link road showed the convoy passing through the main road beneath and being hurled with eggs and stones.
