Former Pakistani Captain is once again trending on Indian social media for standing up for Pakistan.
Indian cricketer Suresh Raina took to twitter to criticize Afridi for his pro-Kashmir, anti-Indian stance recently.
Raina not ready to swallow a very valid opinion wrote in his tweet:
“Gosh! What all a person must do to remain relevant! Even more so for a nation that is living on alms. So, better do something for your failed nation and leave Kashmir alone,” Raina said on his official Twitter handle taking an indirect jibe on Afridi.
Afridi recently accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of committing extreme human rights violations and religious atrocities in India in a video that went viral on social media.
This has once again opened a can of worms that pouring in the form of reality check tweets in response to Raina’s comment.
Pakistanis from across the world flocked to defend Afridi on his honest feelings for the people of Kashmir.
One even went on to tease Raina over the historic ‘fantastic’ cup of tea.
Raina also provided some comic relief by calling himself a proud Kashmiri.
An Afridi fan challenged Raina to visit the Indian Occupied Kashmir and make a comment on the ground like Afridi.
Another Twitter user reminded Raina how Modi-led India downplays on him for being a Kashmiri while Raina made time defend the Indian PM.
While Indian cricketers like Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir all joined the bandwagon against the former Pakistan cricket star, they were rightfully reminded how Indian state has failed its own people.
Shahid Afridi had tweeted last week that it “does not take a religious belief to feel the agony of Kashmiris…just a right heart at the right place. #Save Kashmir
Afridi has openly advocated the right of self-determination for Muslims in the Indian Occupied Kashmir where the atrocities of Indian army have already hit the roof.
He visited the Line of control in 2018 after the Modi government abrogates Article 370 of the Indian Constitution as a measure to alter the demography of the occupied state. Afridi has also been vocal about the rights of Kashmiri on various international forums.
People of Pakistan have high regard for Afridi’s professionalism and philanthropy.
