Mahboobullah Mohebi – Kabul’s Deputy Governor has been killed in a magnetic IED attack in Afghan Capital on Tuesday (today).
Mahboobullah Mohebi was targeted by a ‘sticky bomb’ attack as the magnetic Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was purportedly attached to his vehicle.
Mohebi was en route to work this morning when the device exploded.
The Deputy governor, along with his secretary have died in the incident, whereas two security guards have been wounded in the blast.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack so far.
Afghanistan has experience a significant rise in terrorist attacks since Afghan government began its peace talks with Afghan Taliban in September in Qatar.
Prior to this, Malala Maiwand – a female journalist, was killed in a shooting incident in Jalalabad, Afghanistan last week.
It is to be noted that Pakistan has warned Afghan government to be wary of extensive efforts aimed at derailing Afghan peace process and negotiations between the government and Taliban.
