An Afghan Taliban delegation headed by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday (today) to hold high level meetings with Pakistani officials.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), elegation of the Taliban Political Commission (TPC), under Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and will hold key meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other key officials.
The Afghan Taliban delegation’s visit is scheduled from December 16th to December 18th.
The delegation visited Foreign Office (FO) today and was received by FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Prior to this, the Afghan Taliban delegation had visited Pakistan back in August 2020 this year.
During the meeting the two sides agreed upon the fact that there was no military solution to the Afghan conflict and that a political settlement was the only way forward.
The visit of Taliban Political Commission delegation is part of Pakistan’s policy to reach out to key Afghan parties in the Afghan peace process with a view to facilitating the Intra-Afghan Negotiations, that commenced in Doha on 12 September 2020.
Pakistan will continue to support an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement for durable peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan and the region, said FO spokesperson.
