Afghan soldiers who took refuge in Pakistan a day earlier have been handed back to their home country in a dignified manner on Tuesday (today).
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), 46 Afghan security personnel including five officers from Afghan National Army (ANA) and Border Police have been safely and amicably returned back to their home country a day after they took refuge in Pakistan.
“Forty-six Afghan soldiers, including five officers, have been returned to Afghan authorities at Nawa Pass, Bajaur today at 00:35 hours PST,” said ISPR.
Afghan soldiers had requested Pakistan Army for safe passage and refuge after failing to hold their post long Pak-Afghan border in wake of Taliban’s offence.
Pakistan had army contacted Afghan authorities for information and necessary formalities and Afghan soldiers were allowed to enter Pakistan with their weapons, ammunition and communication equipment. in Arundu Sector, Chitral late last night.
Prior to this, 35 Afghan soldiers had requested Pakistan army for refuge and safe passage due to inability to hold their military post along Pak-Afghan international border on July 1 earlier this month.
