President Arif Alvi on Monday, reiterated the significance of Afghan peace process and that the provision of lasting peace in Afghanistan is essential to regional peace and stability.
Talking to Masnoor Ahmad Khan – Ambassador designate for Afghanistan in Islamabad, President Arif Alvi reassured Pakistan’s commitment towards Afghan peace process to ensure a permanent cease-fire in the war torn country.
The premiere noted that a peaceful Afghanistan is crucial to a stable and peaceful Pakistan as well as regional stability.
Arif Alvi highlighted that the two countries share similar cultural, religious and social values and hence have a reasonable common ground for strengthening bilateral ties.
The President directed Mansoor Ahmad Khan to play his role in improving mutual cooperation and economic, public and political relations between the two neighbours.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had also met with Mansoor Ahmad Khan. The two mulled over matters pertaining to bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan and Afghan peace process.
