Lahore High Court (LHC), on Friday, sacked accountability Judge Arshad Malik over video scandal.
The seven-member administrative body of LHC headed by Chief Justice LHC Qasim Khan addressed the issue of controversial video that emerged of accountability Judge Arshad Malik.
The administrative body, which also included Justice Mamoon-ur-Rasheen, Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Ameen-ud-Din Khan, Justice Ameer Bhatti and Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan announced its decision to sack accountability judge Arshad Malik over his video scandal.
It is imperative to know that it was Judge Arshad Malik who who announced the verdict against Nawaz Sharif in the Al Azizia Steel Mills reference.
The development comes as earlier, in 2019 a video was released by PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif, which allegedly showed Judge Arshad Malik talking to PML-N leader Nasir Butt and confessing that he was coerced to convict PML-N founder and leader Nawaz Sharif without any substantial evidence – an allegation denied by Judge Arshad Malik.
Meanwhile, prior to this, Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan had taken notice of the scandal and had demoted Judge Arshad Malik to ‘officer on special duty’ (OSD).
The story is developing, more details to follow.
