Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader from Karachi, Aamir Liaquat Hussain, on Thursday, announced to submit his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
PTI MNA took to social media to express his disappointment over his inability to perform address peoples’ issues and concerns.
“I admit to being a helpless Karachi MNA. I am unable to ensure the provision of electricity to the people of my city,” he tweeted.
Furthermore, Aamir Liaquat added that he cannot tolerate seeing the people of his constituency suffer who have been left at the mercy of K-Electric’s CEO Moonis Alvi’s lies and incompetency.
“Have requested a meeting with Prime Minister to submit my resignation,” he added.
The development comes as Karachi is being subjected to extended power outages of up to 12 hours. Federal government had earlier claimed to resolve the issue, however K-Electric has stated that the prolonged power outages in the city will continue due to increased demand and insufficient power supply infrastructure.
