The Punjab anti-corruption department has arrested former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi once again from Islamabad and obtained his transit remand from a local court to shift him to Lahore.
The PTI president, who was imprisoned in Adiala Jail in a terrorism case, was re-arrested before he could be released.
After his arrest, Parvez Elahi was shifted to the judicial complex in Islamabad where they duty judge, Shahrukh Arjumand, where his transit remand was sought to shift him to Lahore.
The court approved Elahi’s one-day transit remand, and ordered the authorities to get his medical examination conducted and present him before the relevant court in Lahore.
On Friday, the anti-terrorism court of Islamabad had approved the bail of the former Punjab chief minister in the judicial complex attack case in exchange for a surety bond of Rs20,000.
Since his surety bond could not be submitted, his release orders were not issued.
Parvez Elahi’s lawyer claims his client has been arrested in a fake case for the 12th time to stall his release.
Sardar Abdul Razzaq told the media outside the court that Elahi was granted bail on Friday in a case registered at the CTD police station in Islamabad. For four months, the PTI president is being arrested in one case or the other.
Parvez Elahi is not ready to hold any press conference, the lawyer asserted.
Meanwhile, anti-corruption officials claim that there are four cases under trial against Parvez Elahi, including one regarding including land owned by him, his wife and sons in the Lahore Master Plan.
The anti-corruption spokesman claims that environmental laws were amended for swift approval of the Master Plan. Due to these illegal changes, Parvez Elahi and his family reaped benefits worth Rs10 billion.
Moreover, the sugar production capacity was illegal enhanced to 42,000 metric tonnes.
The third case pertains to appointments in the Punjab Assembly, the spokesman said, adding that merit was brazenly flouted by amending the written results of the testing company.
