A fire erupted at the Jamshoro Grid Station in the early hours of Tuesday, causing a blackout in various districts across Sindh.
The 500 kv Jamshoro Grid Station of of National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) caught fire on Tuesday morning, resulting in a power cut to 66 out of 76 feeders of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO).
The blaze resulted in a blackout in various districts across Sindh including Jamshoro, Manjhand, Sehwan, Bola Khan Police Station, Noriabad, Kotri, Hyderabad, Latifabad, Hussain Abbad, Qasimabad, Tandojam, Tando Allahyar, Matiari and others.

Fire tenders were dispatched from Lakhra Power House, Lakhra Thermal Power House, Noriabad, Hyderabad and Kotri which eventually succeeded in extinguishing the blaze after two hours.
In addition to it, K-Electric has stated that the grid station provides 600 MW of electricity to the metropolitan city, of which 200 MW was suspended due to the incident.
Authorities have stated that the electricity supply has been restored in Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin and Karachi, meanwhile repair work is underway to completely restore the power supply to other affected areas as well.
