Construction work begins on the first Hindu temple in Islamabad after Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the allocation of funds required for the project.
The development comes as PM Imran Khan met Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs Jay Parkash, Shanila Ruth, Laal Chand, Ramesh Kumar and Jamshed Thomas on Friday and issued instructions to speed up the legislative process for the protection of rights of minorities in the country.
The meeting was also attended by Noor-ul-Haq Qadri – Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony and PTI’s Malik Amir Dogar who briefed the premier on the progress and received further instructions on the matter.

It is to be noted that the temple is being constructed in Islamabad’s H-9/2 sectors on an area of 4 Kanal which has been especially allocated by Capital Development Authority (CDA) to the Hindu Panchayat on the orders of the National Commission for Human Rights in 2017.
Prior to this, foundation laying ceremony for the temple was held on Tuesday June 23, with MNA Lal Malhi as its chief-guest.
