The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has refuted the complaint claims made by K-Electric regarding shortage of gas supply to the power generating company.
According to SSGC officials, gas supply to K-Electric is unhindered and in fact has been increased from 50 million cubic feet (MMcf) to 240 MMcf.
Refuting the claims made by K-Electric complaining of shortage of gas supply, SSGC spokesperson stated, “Despite a shortage of gas, more gas is being supplied to the power distributor.”
It is to be noted that Karachiites have been subjected to prolonged power outages as the temperatures around 40°C have been reported in recent days in the metropolis.

K-Electric – Karachi’s sole electricity power supply company, has cited furnace oil shortages and a reduction in gas supply by the SSGC.
Several localities in Karachi, including Malir, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal Colony, North Karachi, Liaquatabad and others, have reported power outages in excess of 12 hours amid soaring temperatures.
