KARACHI: After the announcement of lockdown in Sindh, automobile companies have announced to shut down their plants in compliance of the government’s directives – in a bid to contain the coronavirus.
Pak Suzuki Motors Company Limited (PSMCL), Yamaha Motor Pakistan (YMP) and Indus Motor Company Limited (IMCL) announced to close their plants from March 24 to April 6.
Toyota issued a statement, apologising the customers and public for the inconvenience. The statement reads that the plant is being shut down to “support the government in the uphill task of containing COVID19; we will close our production plant until further notice.”
Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki Motors wrote letter to Pakistan Stock Exchange saying that the “Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited has stopped its operations including factories as well as showrooms till further notice. We fully support the efforts of Government to contain the spread of this epidemic and stand with nation in this difficult hour.”
Similarly, Honda said in a notice: “We value all our customers and thus, their well-being is of paramount importance to us. As a responsible organization, we are halting production till further notice” and Sazagar as well announced to close the production until further notice.
