Karachi is likely to witness a surge in power outages after K-Electric, on Tuesday, announced that its facing an acute shortage of furnace oil.
Karachi’s sole power distributer, K-Electric spokesperson on Tuesday, has said that the company is struggling to provide non-interrupted electric supply to the city due to the inconsistent supply of furnace oil.
Furthermore, an unexpected technical fault at K-Electric’s Bin Qasim Power Station (BQPS)-1 has ‘compounded the situation’, the spokesperson added.

Several areas of Karachi including Malir, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal Colony, North Karachi and various other localities have been facing extensive power outages as the city experiences high temperatures.
The situation is also expect to further worsen the circumstances and conditions for Karachiites who are COVID-19 patients and are under self-isolation in their homes.
