An additional 140-bed High Dependency Unit (HDU) has been at Expo Centre Karachi to treat coronavirus patients.
According to details, the facility consists of seven rooms and 140 beds with oxygen supply, and has been a result of joint cooperation between Pakistan Army and Sindh government, and has been established on urgent basis in a period of just 10 days.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, inaugurated the facility on Monday, in the presence of army officials and various government officials including provincial information minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and others.
Furthermore, CM Murad Ali Shah revealed that Indus Hospital will provide its services and assist in operating the facility.
What is a high-dependency unit (HDU) ?
HDUs are wards for people who need more intensive observation, treatment and nursing care than is possible in a general ward but slightly less than that given in intensive care.
People spend varying lengths of time in HDU, depending on the nature of their illness and the demands on the unit. It is appropriate for patients who have had major surgery and for those with single-organ failure.
