Punjab Health Minister – Dr Yasmin Rashid, on Tuesday, warned that Lahore has become the epicenter of coronavirus outbreak in the province.
According to the health minister, Lahore has reported more than 18,000 COVID-19 cases, and that coronavirus cases in Lahore alone are close to the total cases reported in the entire province.
“At first, people thought the virus does not even exist. Now they’ve begun believing otherwise after seeing their own family members being infected,” she said.

Citing the non-serious attitude of public towards the pandemic, Dr Yasmin Rashid stated that the continuous and exponential increase in coronavirus cases is due to the failure of masses in abiding to the preventive SOPs and guidelines issued by the government as per the recommendations of healthcare experts.
“If people make wearing masks their habit, we can reduce the spread by up to 40 per cent,” she noted.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Monday, had warned that the coronavirus cases in Pakistan will reach their peak at the end of July and early days of August as the country’s COVID-19 tally stands at 108,317 cases, with 35,019 recoveries and 2,172 deaths so far.
