A website and mobile application allowing abuse against women, children and transgender persons to be reported has been launched in Khyber-Pakthunkhwa.
The product has been developed by private organisation Zomung Joundon, part of Women Protection Wing, which aims to empower women.
Women Protection Wing Chairperson Wafa Wazir said women, children and transgender persons can register reports of abuse via the app. The staff working at the agency will contact the complainant and forward it to the concerned authorities within an hour.
The wing has a special team for contacting legal experts, psychological experts, police and the federal investigation agency (FIA). All institutions are informed once the complaint has been registered.
The chairperson maintained that earlier, women faced difficulty in registering their complaints due to the lockdown following the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the country.
She said the application will provide a platform to register complaints while keeping their identities confidential.
This is the first-ever application launched available in eight different languages, including Urdu, English, Pashto, Chinese and Arabic launched by any province.
