Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is continuing its flight operations as per schedule after the deadly crash on Friday.
According to PIA officials, two PIA flight AR-500 and PK-8308 took off from Karachi for Islamabad, while a special Milan bound flight took off from Islamabad with 369 passengers on board.
Furthermore, two flights took off for Gilgit and Skardu from the federal capital, meanwhile several flights are scheduled to take off from Jinnah Airport Karachi for Dubai, Islamabad and Lahore.
The continuation of flight operations by the national carrier is quite significant as a PIA flight PK-8303 crashed in Karachi’s Model Colony area on its landing approach just 4 kilometres from the runway, killing 97 passengers and flight crew, whereas two passengers have miraculously survived the deadly crash and are being treated in various hospitals.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has already directed the inquiry committee, formed to investigate Karachi plane crash, to start work immediately without waiting for the approval of the federal cabinet.
The four-member committee will be headed by Air Commodore Usman Ghani and comprising of Wing Commander Malik Muhammad Imran, Group Captain Tauqeer and Joint Director ATC Nasir Majeed will submit the inquiry report to Ministry of aviation within one month.
