The family of murdered Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, on Friday, issued a statement announcing their decision to pardon his killers.
Salah Khashoggi, son of Jamal Khashoggi, took to social media to announce their family’s decision to pardon his father’s killers.
“Thus, we, sons of the martyr Jamal Khashoggi, announce that we forgive those who killed our father, may he rest in peace for the sake of God Almighty, hopefully seeking reward with the Almighty,” he tweeted.
“Whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, his reward lies with God. He does not love the unjust,” he added.
Hatice Cengiz, Jamal Khashoggi’s fiancé, has criticized Khashoggi family’s decision and that ‘no one has the right to pardon his killers’ she said.
She explicably blamed Saudi government for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, stating that his murderers came from Saudi Arabia and his murder was carried out with the backing of Saudi government.
Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered in a rogue operation carried out at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, on Oct. 2, 2018.
The murder caused a global uproar. Some Western governments, as well as the CIA, said they believed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) ordered the killing.
A Saudi court in December 2019
sentenced five people to death for the murder and three others were sentenced
to a total of 24 years in jail following an investigation.
