Around 27 government employees have been found to be illegally benefiting from Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in Sindh’s Ghotki district.
According to details, 27 government employees from education, health, agriculture, and population welfare departments, including BPS-17 and BPS-20 officers have been receiving monthly stipends form government’s BISP program in other peoples’ names.
The accused also include a former medical superintendent of the Tehsil Hospital, Ubauro.
According to sources, the Individuals are accused of illegally receiving monthly stipends amounting to Rs 3 million.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had issued notices and started its investigation for possible recoveries.
Prior to this, according to National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) statistics, out of the total 16 female government employees, 15 had appeared before FIA admitting their crime of illegally benefiting from BISP.
Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) is a financial aid program established in 2008. It provides monthly stipends aimed at eradicating poverty and elevating the status of marginalized and under privileged sections of society.
It operates through a network of 385 tehsil offices, 33 divisional offices, six regional offices and a head office in the federal capital Islamabad.
