Sindh’s senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system unlikely to complete by the end of year 2026.
Talking to media he said transfer of utilities has caused delay in completion of the BRT project.
The citizens facing hardships owing to the Red Line BRT work. “They are justified if citizens criticizing administration due to the traffic hassle caused by the BRT work,” Sindh’s transport minister said.
Traffic has been badly disturbed at Karachi’s busy University Road and other areas along the Red Line BRT route due to work on the project.
Transport minister denied regularization of Chingchi rickshaws mostly facilitate citizens of the metropolis in several areas.
“The government has imposed ban on plying Chingchi rickshaw, they are running over the stay order,” Sharjeel Memon added.
The BRT project has previously come under scrutiny for infrastructure-related disruptions. Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) summoned Karachi’s mayor and the secretary of transport over concerns regarding tree-cutting along the BRT route.
