Pakistan Army Major Muhammad Asghar embraced martyrdom after contracting the COVID-19 virus while serving at Torkham border crossing.
According to Inter- Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Muhammad Asghar had contracted the novel virus while he was serving at Torkham border crossing with Afghanistan, and was responsible for screening the people for COVID-19.
As per the details, Major Muhammad Asghar was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar was put on a ventilator due to severe breathing problems. However, he succumbed to the virus and embraced martyrdom on Sunday night.
“There is no cause bigger than serving the Nation,” said the statement issued on social media by Director General (DG) ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar.
Army, police and healthcare professionals have been on the fore front of government’s efforts against the coronavirus spread, several doctors, nurses, paramedics and policemen have been affected by the novel virus in the country.
