Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, on Friday, reiterated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s warning that the government might resort to restoring the country-wide lockdown if social distancing measures and healthcare SOPs and guidelines are not implemented and adhered to by masses.
The federal minister took to social media to highlight the significance of peoples’ cooperation and willingness to curb the virus spread by abiding to healthcare guidelines issued by the government as per the recommendations of medical experts.
“Peoples’ cooperation is vital to the easing of lockdown directives, and the SOPs regarding business sector must be strictly followed. If the precautions and preventive measures are ignored we might have to resort to restoring the lockdown,” he tweeted.
“Coronavirus as a national issue, we have to be unified against it,” he added.
Furthermore, Shibli Faraz stated that the step-wise lifting of the country-wide lockdown is aimed at benefiting the poor segment of the population and this decision will somewhat assist small businesses. He noted that a prolonged indefinite lockdown will have proved to be disastrous to small industries and businesses.
It is pertinent to know that Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Thursday, announced government’s decision to lift the country-wide COVID-19 lockdown from Saturday May 9.
