Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday felicitated Pakistan Army officer Julian Moazzam James, who belongs to the Christian community, for being promoted to the rank of major general.
In his congratulatory message, PM Shehbaz said that the services of Christian community for the progress, development and defence of country are unforgettable.
Expressing best wishes to James for the future, the prime minister termed his professional skills and hard work as a beacon for young generation.
James is the first Christian army officer who has been promoted to the rank of major general.
Last month, Helen Mary Roberts from minority Christian community was promoted to the Pakistan Army’s rank of brigadier. She served at the Army Medical Corps.
During a Christmas celebration at Christ Church in Rawalpindi last year, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir lauded the Christian community’s role in Pakistan’s development.
The army chief had also commended the community’s contributions in promoting quality education, healthcare and philanthropy, as well as national defence.
COAS Munir had expressed his profound respect for the Christian community and underscored the importance of fostering interfaith harmony to achieve Quaid’s vision of a united and progressive Pakistan.
