Islamabad: Pakistani authorities have decided to step up their efforts to resume direct flights between US and Pakistan. A six-member delegation of the US National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) visited the New Islamabad Airport to review and assess security measures. The delegation was briefed by officials from Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Airport Security Force (ASF).
Sources state that NTSB officials inspected and assessed surveillance systems, screening mechanisms of Lounge B-6, which will act as a dedicated terminal for US-bound flights.
Earlier, a delegation of US Department of Homeland Security arrived in Islamabad for a five-day visit to assess the security measures being taken by Pakistani authorities. It is to be noted that US-Pak direct flights are bound to security clearance from US security agencies.
