Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, has urged the global powers to play their role in pressurizing Indian government to lift the inhumane and illegal curfew imposed in the disputed territory of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK).
As per the details, FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi, in a telephonic conversation informed his Swiss counterpart – Ignazio Cassis, about the illegal Indian curfew in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir which has practically imprisoned the eight million people of the Muslim majority area.
Furthermore, FM Qureshi highlighted the islamophobic hate-crimes and hate-speeches supported by Narendra Modi led BJP government which has turned a blind eye to the fact that India’s Muslim minority is being unfairly blamed for the COVID-19 outbreak.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged the international community to ensure the protection of basic human rights of the people of Kashmir as they are struggling from the lack of access to basic medical facilities and services amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Foreign Minister also appreciated Swiss government’s show of solidarity with Pakistan amid virus pandemic by adorning Pakistani flag at the Matterhorn Mountain in Zermatt, Switzerland.
In addition to it, Shah Mahmood Qureshi conveyed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s appeal for a global debt relief initiative for developing countries. He also lauded Swiss government’s successful efforts in containing the virus spread as Switzerland is one of the least affected countries in the world from COVID-19 outbreak.
