Former SAPM on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan is said to be involved in attempting to embezzle state funds, misusing her powers and making political appointments, according to various sources.
It is being said that Awan used to take 10 per cent commission from government advertising budget, made political appointments in Pakistan Television (PTV) exceeding its requirement on the quota.
She is also attributed with keeping 2 guards and a total of 9 servants and 3 state cars with her which she had not sought permission for.
Sources entailed that Firdous Ashiq Awan also inducted a sweeper and guard for personal use from the PTV job quota.
Sources say that when the report was submitted to the Prime Minister Imran Khan for review, she was instantly removed from office.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Shibli Faraz was appointed as the new information minister earlier on Monday.
The new Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting is now Asim Saleem Bajwa who has replaced Awan.
