PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday was arrested the second time in three months from his Zaman Park residence, moments after the Islamabad sessions court sentenced him to three-year imprisonment and disqualified him for five years in the Toshakhana criminal case.
Sources confirmed that Imran Khan has been transferred to Attock Jail as part of his detention.
It has been further reported that a medical examination of the PTI chairman will be conducted during his time at Attock Jail.
Following this, the chairman will be subsequently moved to Adala Jail, as per the information provided by the sources.
Due to inclement weather, Imran Khan was transported to Rawalpindi through motorway. Earlier, there were reports he would be flown to Islamabad through a special flight but the plan was dropped due to inclement weather.
Meanwhile, Polyclinic Hospital in Islamabad has also established a standby medical board, comprised of a four-member team led by Dr Faridullah Shah.
This board has been designated to be readily available and on standby to address urgent medical cases.
Previously, amid speculations where the former premier would be kept, Punjab Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir said the PTI chief was arrested by the Islamabad police, and he would be sent to the capital.
He further said the Islamabad police arrested Imran Khan with the assistance of their counterparts in Punjab. He added that the Islamabad police chief would decide about the jail the PTI chairman will be kept in.
On the orders of the interior ministry, arrangements have been completed in both Adiala and Attock prisons.
Ministry sources said Imran Khan would be shifted to Adiala or Attock jails where arrangements have been completed.
Administrations of both jails have been ordered by the ministry to stay alert.
Earlier today, an Islamabad district and sessions court declared that the crime against PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana criminal case has been proved, and sentenced him to three-year imprisonment.
The ex-PM was not present for the hearing at the Islamabad court.
Imran Khan has also been disqualified for five years.
Announcing its verdict reserved a short while ago, the court also rejected the former premier’s appeal against declaring the case maintainable.
The verdict stated that the suspect filed false details with the election commission, and has been found guilty of corrupt practices.
Imran Khan’s arrest warrants were also issued by the court. He has also been fined Rs100,000. If the fine is not submitted, the jail term will exceed for another six months.
The police chief had been ordered to implement the court order.
A heavy contingent of police reached Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore while the police sealed all the roads leading there. An armoured personnel carrier was also stationed there in case of a reaction to arrest by the party workers
