Jahangir Tareen group’s Nazir Chohan – a Punjab Assembly MPA has been arrested by police on Tuesday (today).
As per details, MPA Nazir Chohan has been arrested by Punjab police in connection to the FIR lodged against the lawmaker by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability – Shahzad Akbar.
MPA Nazir Chohan was taken into custody near Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Plaza. On the other hand, a meeting of the pro-Jahangir Tareen lawmakers has been called in to discuss the arrest of MPA Nazir Chohan.
Shahzad Akbar had registered an FIR at Lahore’s Racecourse Police Station back in May earlier this year. In the FIR Shahzad Akbar had stated that his life was in danger after serious allegations levelled against him by Nazir Chohan.
The case against the Punjab lawmaker has been lodged under Sections 506, 258, 189 and 153.
It is to be noted that the lodging of FIR against a close associate of PTI’s Jahangir Tareen had created waves back in May as well.
Tareen group had then termed filing of a case against the Punjab lawmaker not good for the ruling party, pointing out towards a ‘new crisis’ for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and its ‘troubled’ government. The spokesperson said that Shahzad Akbar should immediately withdraw the case and resolve the issues through dialogue.
