Karachi has finally gotten its first female Traffic Police officers following department’s decision to deploy female officers in specific areas.
As per details, four female officers have been initially deployed at city’s Sharah-e-Faisal and Clifton.
All four female traffic police officers are trained motorcyclists and will perform their duties including monitoring traffic, spreading awareness among motorcyclists and assisting people with broken vehicles.
However, they will not have the authority to register traffic violation tickets (challans) or charge people for disobeying traffic regulations.
The step is part of an inclusive approach to encourage women to become a part of Traffic Police.
The move will contribute to more women joining the force in the future, said Traffic Police officials.
