Pakistan has been listed among the top three countries in ‘Global Normalcy Index’ regarding COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the ‘Global Normalcy Index’ prepared by The Economist, Pakistan has reported the third highest normalcy rate regarding COVID-19 pandemic out of the total 50 countries included in the list.
The list is topped by Hong Kong with 96% normalcy followed by New Zealand with 87%.
Pakistan, Ukraine and Nigeria are ranked third on the list with 84% normalcy rate.
Pakistan managed to score more than 100 in retail, office use, time not spent at home and public transport.
The ‘normalcy index’ tracked eight variables – sports attendance, time at home, traffic congestion, retail footfall, office occupancy, flights, film box office and public transport – for 50 countries representing about 75% of global population and 90 percent of global GDP.
The global normalcy index plummeted in March 2020, states the report, as many countries imposed restrictions on the movement of their citizens.
Today it stands at 66 (out of 100) suggesting that the world has traveled roughly half of the way back to pre-pandemic life.
