Renowned actor and showbiz industry veteran – Anwar Iqbal passed away after battling prolonged illness in Karachi on Thursday (today).
Anwar Iqbal was suffering for kidney related issues for some time with his health significantly deteriorating in recent days.
The actor was receiving medical treatment in Karachi. However, he succumbed to his illness and passed away at the age of 71 on Thursday (today).
Anwar Iqbal’s funeral prayers will be offered after Isha prayer today.
The legendary actor had took to social media few days earlier to confirm about the news about his health urging the people to respect his privacy.
“I have been chronically ill for some time and have been getting the best treatment possible under the supervision of Karachi ‘s best board of doctors,” said the actor.
I am humbled by the concern and love shown by everyone for my health but also disappointed by some of you that have breached my privacy, the privacy of my family and the hospital’s by clicking unsolicited pictures of me and spreading them over social media, he added.
Anwar Iqbal – son of a well-known politician from BalochistanHaji Muhammed Iqbal Baloch, fame with the hit Pakistani drama series “Shama.” Afterwards he went to star in “Akhri Chattan” by Naseem Hijazi in the early 1980s.
He initially began his in 1976 with the production of “Hammal o Mahganj” which he also acted in. He then went on to produce the Sindhi drama “Dosten jo Piar” three years later. Despite working in plenty of series; his actual breakthrough was with the popular family drama series Shama which became an immediate success.
Anwar Iqbal emerged as a prominent actor with his memorable role in Shama as “Nana ki Jan Qamru (The beloved grandson of Qamar)”. His debut as a director began with the Drama “Ishq Pecha” in 1984. Since then, he has acted in countless Urdu and Sindhi drama’s and directed a few. He is also a popular teacher, teaching at a private school and working with a private TV channel.
Anwar Iabal’s is famous for his impressive depiction of the portrayal of “Shiwani Khan (Muhammad Shaybani” in the PTV Series “Babur” (life story of the first Mogul emperor Babur).
