Pakistan surpassed 10 million mark of total administered COVID-19 vaccine doses on Wednesday (today).
A ceremony was held in Islamabad to mark the administration of 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in Pakistan. Expressing his views at the press briefing, Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar apprised that government is taking steps to further increase and expand the vaccine envelop so that more and more people can be inoculated against the novel virus.
The federal minister noted that the more quickly we get ourselves vaccinated, the faster we will be able to rid ourselves of this pandemic.

The event was also attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, military and other senior government officials.
Pakistan’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 936,131 cases with 21,453 deaths so far. A total of 869,691 people have successfully recovered from the novel virus, whereas 3,024 are still in critical condition.

As per the NCOC statistics, a total of 43,900 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 1,118 came back positive with a positivity rate of 2.54 % with 77 people succumbing to the novel virus during this time period.
Federal government on Tuesday a day earlier, initiated distribution of the limited Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses country has received so far. The vaccine will be administered to people who are immunocompromised i.e. those with weak immune systems.
Pakistan is currently utilizing a total of six COVID-19 vaccines namely Sinopharm, CansinoBio, Sputnik V, Oxford AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinovac to carryout nation-wide inoculation drive against the novel virus.
According to NCOC figures, 4,741,579 people have been partially vaccinated against COVID-19 with 2,540,238 people being fully vaccinated against the novel virus with the country administering 335,790 COVID-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours.
