Prime Minister Imran Khan has termed climate change and food security as an essential elements of national security in modern times.
Expressing his views at the inaugural session of the first two-day Islamabad Security Dialogue in Islamabad on Wednesday (today), PM Imran Khan noted that in modern times, national security comprises of non-traditional issues like climate change and food security.
Addressing the threat of climate change, the premier said that it had the potential to overshadow everything else for upcoming generations.
Furthermore, the prime minister also underscored the issue of food security faced by Pakistan and reassured that that the government intends to launch a comprehensive programme in the coming weeks to duly address this issue.

Economy is another key aspect of national security, said the premier.
National security cannot be envisioned in a country where there are some rich people and a sea of poor people, he added.
PM Imran Inaugurates National Security Division’s Advisory Portal
PM Imran Khan also inaugurated National Security Division’s Advisory Portal connecting over 100 think-tanks and university departments in Pakistan with policy makers.
The premier lauded the initiative and said that Pakistan has immense young talent in this country and that we do not value.

PM On Kashmir, Afghanistan And Regional Peace
The prime minister shed light on Kashmir and Afghanistan issue and how India threatens regional peace whereas Pakistan has played a significant role in strengthening peace and stability in the region.
India must commit to giving Kashmiris their right to self-determination as per the UNSC Resolutions. Kashmir is the core issue between Pakistan and India and if a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue is found by giving Kashmiris the right to self-determination it would be beneficial for both countries, said PM Imran.
Pakistan wishes for a political settlement in Afghanistan that can lead to sustainable peace. He said peace in Afghanistan is the key to unlocking the connectivity potential of the region, he added.
