KARACHI: Sindh Boy Scouts Association in collaboration with the Tobacco Control Directorate Ministry of NHSR&C organized an awareness walk to bring hazards of tobacco use to light.
Before the start of the walk a flag hoisting ceremony was held during the assembly of scouts.
Dr. Minhaj-us-Siraj with Akhtar Mir Secretary Sindh Boy Scouts Association hoisted the national flag.
Whereas, Dr. Minhaj Us Siraj Project Director and Muhammad Aftab Project Manager of Tobacco Control Ministry of NHSR&C briefed scouts about tobacco control laws, best practices of tobacco control laws, and their enforcement in more than 5 districts of Pakistan.
They also shared the plan that how scouts could play their role to spread awareness regarding tobacco control.
Scouts holding placards and banners chanted slogans to save the lives of future generations from the use of tobacco.
The awareness walk comprised of more than 300 scouts from all over Pakistan starting from Gulistan e Jauhar Scouts Training Center and ending at Maskan Chowrangi, Karachi.
The scouts were divided into groups and later went to different departments of Karachi University. Students were told about the dangers of tobacco use and shared the message of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination “Protect the lives of young Generation”.
Moreover, Dr. Minhaj us Siraj along with Dr. Syed Zafar Controller Examinations of Karachi University, Mr. Khursheed including numbers of Sindh Boy Scouts Officials inaugurated a Smoke-free plaque at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the University of Karachi, after which the campus was declared as a smoke-free zone and it was decided that Sindh Boy Scouts would monitor the violation of Tobacco Control.
At last Dr. Minhaj thanked Secretary Sindh Boy Scouts Akhtar Mir for engaging scouts to spread the message of tobacco control and organizing the awareness walk۔
