PTI government has shown its displeasure over ECP’s response to PM Imran Khan’s remarks on Senate Elections held on March 3rd.
Addressing a press-briefing in Islamabad, Shibli Faraz – Federal Minister Information and Broadcasting, expressed displeasure over ECP’s response to PM Imran Khan’s remarks regarding Senate elections. Senate elections have vindicated our stance that horse-trading is undertaken in the polling process, he said.
Meanwhile Federal Minister for Science and Technology – Fawad Chaudhry, clarified that PTI will not be protesting in front of ECP’s Islamabad office on Saturday. The federal minister urged the ECP to prove its independence and impartiality through its actions ant not mere press-releases.

However, federal ministers further reiterated that ECP is duly respected and revered by the government as a significant and essential constitutional institution.
The development comes as earlier ECP issued a press-release in response to PM Imran Khan’s remarks. ECP had contended that it ‘cannot ignore law and constitution’ and that it rejects the criticism in light of Senate elections results.
Independent elections and the secret ballot which the entire nation witnessed, which was according to the Constitution, said the press-release.
It is pertinent to know that PM Imran Khan in his address to the nation on Thursday a day earlier, had blamed ECP for controversial Senate election results and that it had failed to prevent horse trading, buying and coercion of votes during the Senate elections.
