Saira Peter – Internationally renowned vocalist and Pakistan’s only opera singer, has released her new song ‘Yeh Zindagi’ (This Life) which is being praised from fans all across the world.
Expressing her views on the song’s release, Saira Peter said that her new song carries a message of hope, courage and strength.
The song reminds music lovers that good days would come again and COVID-19 pandemic come to an end.
The new song has been composed by Saira Peter herself.
Saira Peter also apprised that she is working on a sufi opera regarding a famous story of Sindh on Umar Marvi in English language as she was planning to stage it in London.
Saira Peter is a British-Pakistani playback singer and founder of the Saira Arts Academy in Karachi.
She is known for being the first Pakistani Sufi opera singer. Peter was mentored and trained as an opera singer by Paul Knight, a former student of Benjamin Britten, and Rosemary Ashe, and trained in raagdari by Chitrarupa Gupta. She was inspired to combine opera and Sufi poetry by Syed Waqar Hussain Shah, custodian of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s shrine.
Her debut performance, at the Hotel Pearl-Continental in Karachi, launched her professional singing career. She has since performed at the Mohatta Palace, the Governor House in Karachi, and the Alhamra Art Center in Lahore.
Peter has also performed for the High Commission of Pakistan, London on Independence Day of Pakistan. Her debut album Resplendent, a collaboration with Knight, was released March 18, 2017.
