World renowned poet Dr Rehan Azmi passed away at the age of 63 in Karachi on Tuesday (today).
As per family sources, Rehan Azmi Rehan Azmi had been battling health issues for a prolonged period of time. He was shifted to hospital as his health deteriorated and remained critical.
He passed away on Tuesday (today) in Karachi at the age of 63.
Born Syed Rehan Abbas in 1958, he graduated from Sirajuddaula College Karachi. Known by his pen name ‘Rehan Azmi’ started writing poetry in 1974.
He is credited with more than 4,000 songs. His song ‘Hawa Hawa’ was sung by singer Hassan Jahangir and brought him nationwide fame, acknowledgement.
He was also associated with PTV as a singer.
Rehan Azmi then shifted to writing elegy and has written 25 books in this genre.
Khuwab Se Tabeer Tak (1997), Qalam Torr Dia (2015), Manzar Ba Manzar Karbala, Eik Aansoo Mein Karbala and Gham are some of his most famous books.
