Federal government has formed a special committee to investigate the Broadsheet scandal and will present its report within 45 days.
Address a press-briefing in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting – Shibli Faraz apprised that an inquiry committee has been formed on the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan to investigate Broadsheet LLC scandal.
The federal minister was also accompanied by Federal Minister for Scienc – Fawad Chaudhary and Federal Minister for Human Rights – Shireen Mazari.
The inquiry committee will include a former judge of High Court or Supreme Court, a senior officer from FIA, Attorney General Office, a senior lawyer and any officer nominated by the Prime Minister.
The terms of reference (ToR) of the committee have already been formulated and it once operational, it will present its report in 45 days, said Shibli Faraz.
Meanwhile, expressing his views Fawad Chaudhry accentuated the fact that Broadsheet was registered in 1999 during Musharraf era to assist the government and the newly established NAB in their effort against identifying foreign wealth and assets of Pakistanis which they acquired via illegal means.
Prior to this, PM Imran Khan had formed a five-member inter-ministerial committee to probe into Broadsheet LLC scandal. The committee included Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari, Babar Awan and Shehzad Akbar.
