Zain Effendi – Hassan Ali Effendi’s great-great-greatgrandson was shot dead in Karachi during a robbery attempt.
According to police, Zain Effendi – 40, was killed during a robbery attempt at his home. Five men entered Zain Effendi’s house and held him hostage. The perpetrators tied him and then robbed him of his valuables, said the police.
The culprits shot Zain Effendi after he resisted the robbery. Mr Effendi later succumbed to his wounds.
The robbers managed to escape with two cellphones and jewelry amounting to Rs one million.
A case has beenr registered against unknown robbers, whereas further investigation underway.
Zain Ali Effendi was the descendant of Hassan Ali Effendi – founder of Karachi’s Sindh Madrasatul Islam, which was established in 1885.
Several prominent Muslim League leaders including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Sir Abdullah Haroon, Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, Mohammad Ayub Khuhro, Shaikh Abdul Majid Sindhi and others.
