Renowned businessman and former President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Siraj Kassam Teli passed away on Tuesday (today).
Siraj Kassam Teli passed away in Dubai after suffering a fatal cardia arrest on Tuesday.
Teli had flown to UAE seeking medical treatment, and was being treated in Dubai for pneumonia since last week.
Born in Karachi on May 17th 1953, Siraj Kassam Teli was a renowned industrialist and businessman and was a prominent voice advocating for Karachi’s business community.
He graduated from the Government College of Commerce and Economics, Karachi, in 1974.
He was also the chairman of the Businessman Group (BMG).
He had been an avid critic of governments over the years regarding Karachi’s security situation and insufficient infrastructure.
He was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the government in 2011 for his services.
Federal Minister for Industries and Production – Hammad Azhar and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah have expressed grief and offered their condolences over Mr Teli’s demise.
