Pakistan on Thursday, categorically denied rumours suggesting that it was considering recognizing the State of Israel.
Speaking at weekly press briefing Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri – Foreign Office spokesperson, rebuked rumours claiming that Pakistan was mulling over the possibility of recognizing Israel.
Chaudhri reiterated that Pakistan’s stance and policy regarding Israel is unchanged and that Prime Minister Imran Khan has already made it clear the Pakistan will not recognize Israel unless the Palestine issue is duly solved as per international laws and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Pakistan supports Palestinians’ inalienable right to self-determination. The two-state solution in accordance with the relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions, is essential for lasting peace and stability in the region, said FO.
The development comes as rumors have been circulating regarding immense international pressure, especially from United States regarding Israel’s recognition.
Prior to this, Israeli media had reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly visited Saudi Arabia and held meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on November 22nd earlier this week.
